The centre was started in 1966.
Activities :
- An English-medium higher secondary school for tribal students, with a roll strength of 1685, which includes 534 girls.
- An attached hostel for 250 tribal boys.
- Instructional units giving training in dairy and poultry farming, agriculture, mechanical workshop, carpentry, printing, bee-keeping, computer operation, etc.
- A library and a reading room, with 14,585 books and 32 journals.
- An audio-visual unit which screens films for the local people.
- A charitable dispensary, which treated 10,260 patients this year.
- A mobile dispensary, which treated 10,385 patients this year.
- Welfare work: Distribution of blankets and nutrients, and providing pecuniary help and other types of assistance to poor tribal families.
- Religious and cultural functions.
