The centre was started in 1932
Activities:
- Two higher secondary schools, a primary school, a matriculation school, and a hostel. During the year, the higher secondary schools had 2307 boys, the primary school had 187 boys and 197 girls, the matriculation school had 590 boys and 239 girls, and the hostel—which is at 3 M.S. Salai (Griffith Road)—had 62 boys.
- Libraries attached to the Ashrama and schools, which had 33,921 books during the year.
- Personality development workshops at schools, colleges and other institutions in and around Chennai.
- Welfare work by way of providing buttermilk to more than 50,000 thirsty wayfarers during summer, feeding of 320 poor school children, and providing pecuniary help to the needy.
- Religious activities: Observing the birthdays of Sri Ramakrishna, Holy Mother, Swami Vivekananda, Swami Ramakrishnananda and other religious celebrities.
